I was sorry to reach the last page.

"I admire the plot of Tartan Threads. A large white board and a lot of sticky notes must have been required to keep it in order. I know that I’ve been drawn in by a novel when I reach the last page and wish for more. Clare, Matthew and Paul are such engaging characters; they must go on to other adventures. Please keep writing!"

Serendipity & Suspense

"I love it when a great indie read comes across my path that delivers beyond my expectations. When I decided to drop by Chapters Indigo during Alison M York’s author signing for Tartan Threads: Serendipity in Scotland, I never imagined it was a serendipitous opportunity for me to discover a talented local writer. It’s hard to put my finger on what exactly made this story so compelling for me. It was subtle, and it took a few chapters to find my groove. Beginning with a brief prologue set in the future, then whizzing back in time to WWII before settling into the late 1970s where we meet the protagonist, Clare Wood, I felt somewhat off kilter. Yet as I followed the lovable and adventurous Clare on her spontaneous trip to Scotland, I got the sense that Alison York established this tension with purpose—and effectively! I was completely engaged from chapter three, and the intrigue only continued to build. Near the end, I couldn’t set it down. I don’t want to give too much away as the suspense is a big part of what makes this book so enjoyable. If you like well-written, original stories with surprise twists and a colourful cast of characters, you’ll want to drop by Chapters Polo Festival in Winnipeg or go online to www.alisonmyork*** to order your copy direct from the author. And stay tuned for the upcoming sequel too."
