Love love love!

"An incredible book by an incredible author, animal rescue advocate, and person. I've followed @SimonSits on Instagram for years and this book made me fall deeper in love with her and her story. A must-read for all dog-lovers and humans alike. Highly recommend this book and a box of tissues to go with it."

Amazing book

"I was not prepared for how much I would love this book. Isabel is an amazingly evocative writer that makes you feel like you’re living alongside her in her many apartments and going through all of it with her. I followed Isabel initially when she was fostering Tiki, like so many others did and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing more of her story."

Enjoyed reading about the dogs

"It was a quick read and I enjoyed when she got into the dogs she fostered but I found it difficult to relate to, or perhaps felt that the boys she cried about didn’t come across as impactful as I anticipated. I read a lot of memoirs and this one was average for me."

Beautiful memoir!

"Thank you to NetGalley, HarperAudio Adult and Isabel Klee for providing me this ALC in exchange of an honest review. What a roller coaster of emotions this memoir has been! Please be aware that this book is NSFW: I could not listen to it in the office because I would just bust out crying! I probably cried at every chapter! Isabel started rescuing dogs at the same time she started adulthood. While going through relationships, friendships, apartment hunts and breakups, at a time in our lives where we tend to be more focused on ourselves, she shared her life with dogs without a family, giving them a second chance at life. I discovered her fostering journey on Instagram a few months ago and I am so glad I got to listen to her story! Isabel narrates the audiobooks herself and I don’t know how she kept so calm during the rougher times of her life. The love she has for every single dog that had crossed her path is still palpable in the way she remembers them even after all these years. Overcrowded animal shelters are a real problem nowadays, especially in the years following the Covid pandemic. I imagine individuals like Isabel Klee are doing a great job in helping with this problem and memoirs like this one have the power to change how people view rescuing. With love and time, every dog has an immense potential for rehabilitation. She opened my eyes about fostering, something that I now consider doing in a near future."
