An Open Letter to Canadian Booklovers
For as long as I can remember, I have loved sharing book recommendations with friends and family. It is a passion that led to my decision, 27 years ago, to launch Heather’s Picks.
Today, so many years later, sharing my excitement about a meaningful book still brings me joy.
Recently, I have been thinking a lot about the power of sharing a favourite book with, or gifting it to, a friend. It is akin to magically relieving stress and adding hours of joyful escape.
I have also been thinking that right now we are all in need of a little more of this very feeling.
So ...
To launch a movement of sharing and to inspire reading, on Sept. 14, at Indigo, Chapters, and Coles stores across the country, we are giving away 10,000 copies of four of my favourite Heather’s Picks: Khaled Hosseini’s The Kite Runner, Robin Wall Kimmerer’s Braiding Sweetgrass, Jeannette Walls’s The Glass Castle, and Sue Monk Kidd’s The Book of Longings.
